Starting and maintaining a private practice takes a great community of colleagues and mentors. Below are great clinicians at the office that I personally use as referral sources and consultation.

Liz Birch, LMFT

For over 20 years, Liz has been helping clients work through issues of anxiety, depression and various traumas. She also works with couples looking for pre-marital counseling so they get off on the right foot or seasoned couples looking to reconnect.

Specialty areas: The military population holds a special interest as Liz has several family members who have served. Serving can create issues of PTSD, trauma, stress, anxiety, depression and more. Whether you are a veteran, active duty military personnel or a family member struggling with serving, deployment or overall adjustment issues be sure to reach out for care.

As noble as First Responder work is, this line of work creates exposure to constant trauma and tragic experiences, which can lead to PTSD, depression, anxiety and relationship issues. Now may be the time for you, or your family members to focus on yourselves.

Attending college, especially if you are away from home, can bring on stress, anxiety, loneliness and sometimes depression. Do you have test anxiety? Peer issues? You don’t have to go through this alone.  Together we can work on getting you on track so you can focus on your education.

Growth and change can happen in all the issues above by utilizing Cognitive Behavioral and Solution Focused therapy. Cognitive Behavioral therapy looks at negative patterns of thought about one’s self and the world then challenging those thoughts and making positive changes. Solution-focused therapy concentrates on helping people move towards the future that they want and learning what changes to make to get there.

Liz also is a trained master clinical Hypnotherapist. Hypnotherapy is a type of complementary and alternative medicine in which the mind is used to help with a variety of problems. Clinical hypnotherapy is performed in Liz’s comfortable and calming office. You will be guided into a very relaxed and focused state. Your subconscious will then be open to positive suggestions, which can lead to the changes you are seeking.

Fun Fact: Liz sang the National Anthem as one of many extras in Mighty Ducks 2.

Insurance Accepted: TriCare, Cigna, CalOptima. For all other insurances Liz provide a superbill, which the client can submit for reimbursement.

Working from an integrative, humanistic approach, Taryn see’s each client as an individual first and the therapeutic relationship as an imperative agent for change.

Clients who’ve worked with Taryn have shared their appreciation for her transparency, compassion and ability to help find perspective and healing.

When she’s out of the office, Taryn is busy keeping up with her highly active six year old and maintaining balance through engaging in her own self-care and recovery.

Fun Fact: I got bit by the travel bug a bit later in life. In part due to being a full time student and having to work full time to pay tuition. The other piece was, which I discovered later when I had no more excuse, the fear of the unknown. Each of the places I’ve been have shaped me in ways that continue to unveil themselves. Travel changes us; it changed me. Next on my list: South East Asia, Progue, Greece, and Ecuador to hop on a boat headed straight to the Galapagos Islands.
